| I was born in Paris, France in 1959. I lived in Sevran
in the suburbs of Paris where I studied musicology until I was 21 when I met a Hungarian
violin maker living in Cremona who promised to teach me this art. I only needed to come
here. This is what I did. But after a few weeks, I was on my own, as my teacher had
the habit of moving quite often. Luckily, there were many other makers to teach me the
construction technique and to share their experience with me.

I was happy to live in another country, completely new to me -- I did not even know how to say "ciao".
For four years, I learned the craft thanks to the availability and kindness of some makers. I then followed a
biennial course to learn the restoration techniques where I learned how to make repairs and how to improve
set up, so important for the sound produced by the instrument and the comfort of the musicia.

| I also attended another course on bow making; Then, I collaborated
to the translation of a CD-Rom dedicated to bow making, designed by a well-known
Cremonese bow maker. The rest is…experience! |
