| Fine Instrument |
| A quality instrument must have a perfect sound, look nice
and made with care. The quality of an instrument depends on many factors. To begin with,
selecting the best wood is of primordial importance. Then the manual work of the violin
maker starts. His capacity to understand the quality of wood he's using (hard, compact,
soft): this is fundamental to determine the thickness of the top and the back. But one
of the most important factors is the right relationship between arching and the
thicknesses allowing the acoustic box to vibrate at its best without being too fragile. |

Then, the bass bar will help to reinforce the box and to transmit the
vibrations. Another factor is the fingerboard's inclination in relationship to the box,
and the right position of the"f" holes. A fine set up (sound post, bridge, strings) will
allow the work done up to now to turning into harmonious sound and potency. An adequate
varnish will protect and adorn the instrument without blocking the sound.
